This photograph shows the preparations for the first aeroplane flight in the Highlands. The pilot, B C Hucks, was on a national barnstorming tour and stopped off at the Strathpeffer Highland Games on 24 August 1912 with his Bleriot monoplane, 'Firefly'. The tour was sponsored by the Daily Mail.

Hucks was the first pilot to fly a 'loop-the-loop' in an aeroplane.
