Captain Ted Fresson making a speech on the morning of 29 May 1934 at the Longman Aerodrome, Inverness, prior to making the inaugral flight of Britain's first internal scheduled airmail service at normal postal rates. Fresson flew to Kirkwall carrying around 2000 letters.

Standing on the platform (railway sleepers wrapped in canvas) are, from left to right, Mr Smith Laing, Town Clerk of Inverness; Provost Mackenzie and Captain Fresson. Standing on the grass are General Sir Frederick Williamson, KCB, Postmaster General; Mr A J Campbell, Head Postmaster in Inverness; and Dr Alexander, a former chairman of Highland Airways
