Fountain outside Town House, High Street, Inverness

A view of Inverness High Street showing the fountain outside the Town House and two horse-drawn carriages parked at the side of the kerb. The fountain was presented to the town in 1880 by Dr G F Forbes. It protected the 'Clach na Cùdainn' or 'stone of the tubs' which stood in the centre of the street and was a resting place for servant girls when they made their trips to and from the river to collect water
