Passengers and crew aboard the Kessock Ferry SS 'Nellie'. The ferry is a stretch of water across the strait between the Moray and Beauly Firths, opposite Inverness. A ferry service ran from North Kessock to Inverness until the opening of the Kessock Bridge in 1982. Steam ferries replaced the sailing ferries in the 1900s and continued to be used for several decades to come
