The Bught Mill, Inverness

This photograph shows the Bught water mill, once located at the far end of the Islands in Inverness. The old mill was one of several meal mills within the area of Inverness and was first recorded in 1232. Originally known as the Mill of Kilvean, in the 1920s the town council set up a hydro-electric scheme using the widened old mill-lade to supply water-power from the River Ness. Although no longer in use, the Powerhouse building is still in existence today as part of a recreation area known as Whin Island
