Horses and carriages, Academy Street, Inverness

Horses and carriages parked outside Macrae & Dick's 'Posting Establishment', at the corner of Inglis Street and Academy Street, Inverness. This firm was created by Roderick Macrae, a horse hirer from Beauly, and William George Dick of Redcastle. They set up business in Inverness in 1878 as postmasters and horse hirers. When motor cars arrived they set part of their original premises aside for hiring and selling cars. Today, Macrae & Dick is still a major provider of vehicles throughout Scotland
