A view of Bank Street, in Inverness. To the right of the picture can be seen Inverness Castle, and directly below it is the old Ness Bridge. The bridge opened in 1855 and had a span of 225 feet. At the east end of the bridge, a battlemented archway was built, providing a picturesque entrance to the town. At the west end, two much lower towers were erected. The bridge was closed in 1959. The church to the left of the photograph is St Columba's High Church, erected in 1852
