The photograph shows the Proclamation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Town Hall, Inverness on Friday 8th February 1952. As the first military duty of the new Reign, a Guard of Honour was furnished by The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. On the right of the photograph is the officer commanding a detachment from the Regimental Depot, Captain PAW Allan, and in the foreground are 18 men from the 4th/5th Territorial Battalion The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, under the command of the Adjutant Captain PI Laughton.
The Provost is seen emerging from the Town House to hear the Sheriff proclaim 'Queen Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of this Realm and all Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith'. After the Ceremony the Provost invited the Officers to drink the Loyal Toast at the Town House.
