Glasgow Rangers visit Bught Lodge, Inverness, 1888

Photograph taken at Bught Lodge, 1888, when Glasgow Rangers football team came to Inverness. Glasgow Rangers was formed in 1872 by four men - two brothers, Peter and Moses MacNeil and two friends, Peter Campbell and William McBeath. The name 'Rangers' derives from an English rugby club which was known to Moses MacNeil. The team became members of the Scottish Football Association in 1873 and moved to the Ibrox area of Glasgow in 1887
