"The Cairngorms from Craggan Wood" by Mairi Hedderwick

The Cairngorms are a mountain range in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. The Cairngorms feature the highest, coldest and snowiest plateaux in the British Isles and are home to five of the six highest mountains in Scotland: Ben Macdhui (1309 m), Braeriach (1296 m), Cairn Toul (1293 m), Sgor an Lochain Uaine (1258 m) and Cairn Gorm (1245 m).

This work is from a collection of drawings and sketches by the popular writer and illustrator, Mairi Hedderwick. They all have some connection to the village of Newtonmore and many of them also represent the game of shinty. Mairi Hedderwick is best known as the author and illustrator of the much loved Katie Morag series of children's books.
