This photograph shows some of the tools in Donald Riddell's fiddle workshop.

Donald Riddell (1908 - 1992) from Kirkhill near Inverness, was a master fiddler, composer, and fiddle-maker. He was also a Pipe Major in the Lovat Scouts. His pupils included Duncan Chisholm, Bruce MacGregor and Iain MacFarlane.

Donald was influenced in both his fiddle playing and his fiddle making by Alexander Battan Grant, fiddle player, maker, composer and inventor of a world famous fishing rod known as the Grant Vibration Rod.
