HR 29 "Raigmore"

In the late 1870s the Highland Railway built two 2-4-0 locomotives at their Lochgorm works in Inverness. Numbered HR 1 and HR 3 they replaced the company's existing engines with those numbers and are known collectively as the 'Raigmore II' class.

This photograph shows HR 1 'Raigmore'. Built in September 1879 it was the second locomotive to be named 'Raigmore. Renumbered 29 in 1898 and 29A in August 1910, it was withdrawn from service in 1912.
