Clachan Duich was the burial place of the MacRae Clan for over a thousand years. The church and graveyard are seen on the left of the photograph. The war memorial in the background, on the rocky knoll, was unveiled in July 1922 by Sir Colin G. MacRae. The statue of a MacRae warrior was sculpted by James Gray of Glasgow. Duncan Macpherson mentions the Memorial in his book "Lure of the West"
