This building dates from about 1800 and was constructed on the site of the original inn where Johnson and Boswell stayed on the 1 September 1773 - Johnson pronounced the food inedible! The Ferry Inn, as it was sometimes called, is situated at the nearest crossing point to Skye at Kylerhea, which was the main route for the drovers taking their cattle to markets on the mainland. The hills in the background are on Skye
