Looking west from near Kyle of Lochalsh to the Isle of Skye, the magnificent range of the Cuillin makes a distinctive outline on the skyline. On the right is Eilean Ban, where Gavin Maxwell lived for several years, and which is now one of the land links for the Skye Bridge. The photographer, Duncan Macpherson, ran his chemist's shop in Kyle for many years, and would have looked out daily at a similar view
