The little boy is probably Neil Macpherson, the photographer Duncan Macpherson's son. The location is unknown, but Neil accompanied his father from an early age as he toured the area around Kyle of Lochalsh with his camera, usually on foot or by bicycle. Neil was born and educated in Kyle. He died on 21 May 1944, aged 24, after being injured while serving in the 16th Army Ordnance Depot in Kent
