Staff on the M.V. Lochmor

The couple pictured both worked on the M.V. Lochmor, Emma Matheson of Kyle as a stewardess, and her companion as the chief engineer. Duncan Macpherson, the Kyle chemist and photographer, knew the steamer and its captain, "Squeaky" Robertson, well and occasionally joined the boat at Kyle for a sail. "The Lochmor normally plies between Kyle and Mallaig on the Mainland, and ports in the outer Hebrides, but on certain days during the tourist season, when the Skye boat makes special cruises to Loch Coruisk, the Lochmor carries passengers and mails to Portree."
