The bridge on the left in the township of Elgol seems rather out of scale with the burn it crosses, but the road above it falls steeply to the shore. Duncan Macpherson visited Elgol on the shores of Loch Scavaig on Skye several times, describing one such trip in his book Gateway to Skye. As many other visitors have done over the years, Macpherson took a boat trip from Elgol's small pier, across Loch Scavaig to Loch Coruisk, enjoying the breathtaking views of the Cuillin
