World War I

The Lochalsh War Memorial is now situated to the east of the village of Reraig, in a landscaped area on the landward side of the A87. It is a white marble tablet, which originally bore the names of sixty-one men from Lochalsh who had died in the Great War. The memorial was originally erected, as shown in the photograph, at Sgeir an Eoin, the rock face which is opposite the East Lodge at the junction of the A87 and the back road to Plockton. It was unveiled on Thursday 29th December 1921 by Miss Livingston of Lochalsh
