Mary Macpherson at 'The Cage'

Duncan Macpherson, the photographer, built a retreat on a plateau above the family home in Kyle of Lochalsh. He called it 'The Cage', a historical reference to 'Cluny's Cage' on the slopes of Ben Alder, where Cluny Macpherson sheltered the fugitive Bonnie Prince Charlie. The summerhouse became a favourite spot for all the family to gather for afternoon tea, or to have a few minutes alone to admire the beautiful scenery. In this photograph, Duncan's daughter, Mary, is joined by the family cat
