The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Margaret visited Skye and Lochalsh on 14 August 1956, having arrived in the area on board the Royal Yacht "Britannia". They began their tour at Kyleakin, travelled to Portree by car and on to Dunvegan where they lunched with Dame Flora MacLeod of MacLeod before departing from the pier back to the Royal Yacht. This photograph is taken in Somerled Square where local people are waiting for the Royal party
