Ferry Queue at Kyle of Lochalsh

This photograph is one of the most recent in the Duncan Macpherson collection, probably taken after Macpherson retired from his pharmacy in Kyle. The jetty has been extended and resurfaced, and two 6-car ferries operate, reducing the queue of cars seen in many of the earlier photographs in the collection. From the number of vehicles seen here, Skye is obviously still popular as a touring destination for all kinds of people.

A 1946-49 MGTC two seater sits at the back of the row nearest the sea, with a 1950s Morris Oxford in front of it, then a 1952-58 Standard 8 and a 1953-59 Ford Anglia 100E at the front. At the back of the row nearest the camera is a Morris 10 4DR Saloon, with a Jaguar XK20 Sports Roadster of 1948-54 in front of it. Ahead of the Jaguar is an Austin A30 2DR Saloon, a 1953-57 Hillman Minx Californian Coupe, and a Vauxhall Velox 4 DR Saloon of 1952-57. The car at the very front, barely visible, has not been identified
