This photograph shows a group of dignitaries in Somerled Square in Portree on 14 August 1956. They were waiting to greet The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Margaret who were visiting Skye and Lochalsh for the first time, having arrived in the area on board the royal yacht "Britannia". They began their tour at Kyleakin, travelled to Portree by car and on to Dunvegan where they lunched with Dame Flora MacLeod of MacLeod before departing from the pier back to the Royal Yacht
