Loch Alsh from above Scalpay Bay

This photograph was taken from the hillside above Scalpay Bay, to the east of Kyle of Lochalsh. Scalpaidh, now deserted, was once a settlement which spread across what is presently the main road into Kyle, and its inhabitants are believed to have been cleared there from a more fertile area. The village of Kyleakin on Skye can just be seen behind the Eileanan Dubha group of islands, with the Cuillin hills in the distance
