Bridge at Linn of Dee

When Queen Victoria chose Deeside as her Scottish holiday retreat, her subjects soon followed and the area remains very popular with tourists from home and abroad. About 5 miles west of Braemar on the Mar Lodge Estate, the river Dee is funnelled down a picturesque rocky gorge. The river is crossed by a road bridge which was opened by Queen Victoria in 1857. The estate has been in the care of the National Trust for Scotland since 1995
