Semi-Jubilee of Rev. John Maclean

The Reverend John Maclean was minister of Lochalsh Parish Church from 1910 to 1946. In his book 'Gateway to Skye', Duncan Macpherson describes him as "a quiet, dignified, and scholarly bachelor with just sufficient trace of Highland accent to prove attractive to the visitor. He has been blessed with a rare fund of humour, a gift which, owing to his environment, he must necessarily restrain - especially in the pulpit." The minister is pictured here on the occasion of his Semi-Jubilee when he had been 25 years at Kyle. John Maclean is seated fifth from the right, alongside Mrs Wills of Killilan Estate and a number of his parishioners
