This photograph shows Mr Thomas Wellwood Maxwell in front of the Spa Pharmacy in Strathpeffer. Duncan Macpherson spent several summers working in Strathpeffer, where people came from all over the country to 'take the waters', and for the first summer there, he stayed with Mr and Mrs Maxwell. He had a very high regard for Mr Maxwell, describing him in his book Where I Belong as 'probably the ablest chemist in the North of Scotland'
