Church Road, Kyle of Lochalsh

This photograph was taken from the upper part of Church Road looking towards the village of Kyle of Lochalsh. Duncan Macpherson, the photographer and local pharmacist, was probably standing in front of the Church of Scotland at the bend in the brae. From his early days in Kyle, where he settled in 1912, his interest in photography overlapped with his job as a chemist, as he sold his photographs of the area as postcards and in illustrated booklets from his shop beside the jetty
