S.Y. 'Killarney' at Kyle of Lochalsh

The S.Y. 'Killarney' was a Liverpool-registered cruise ship that sailed to the Western Isles. The 'Killarney' is seen here arriving at the pier at Kyle of Lochalsh, one of the regular stops in the tourist season. The shopkeepers were always pleased to welcome the Killarney's well-heeled passengers as they were generous when buying local goods and souvenirs. Duncan Macpherson mentions in his book, 'Gateway to Skye', that the passengers and crew from the 'Killarney' joined the locals in a match at the Kyle cricket club.
