Flying boat at Kyle of Lochalsh

On what must have been a very memorable and exciting day, a crowd gathers on the jetty at Kyle to watch the 'flying boat'. In his book 'Gateway to Skye', Duncan Macpherson who took this photograph, describes the one and only passenger flight from Kyle of Lochalsh. Two air enthusiasts, Lord Malcolm Douglas Hamilton and Mr Jack MacLeod of Skeabost on Skye, arrived in the plane, 'Cloud of Iona' and anchored in the bay off Kyle. A party of 10, including Duncan Macpherson, went on board and were taken up for a short but enjoyable flight.
