New Gateway for Eilean Donan Castle

From 1912 for twenty years, Eilean Donan Castle underwent great reconstruction, with the formal reopening taking place in July of 1932. The gates leading over the bridge to the castle were erected and officially opened later. Duncan Macpherson has photographed members of the MacRae-Gilstrap family, and others at this latter event. From the left, the group of four ladies are Mrs Margaret (MacRae-Gilstrap) Campbell, Oban, her daughter, Miss Jean Campbell; Miss Dorothy MacRae of Conchra; Mrs Flora (MacRae-Gilstrap) Stewart, and holding the umbrella over Mrs MacRae-Gilstrap is Col R.A.G. Stewart, husband of Flora. This photograph likely featured in one of the local newspapers, and Macpherson photographed the article with the caption as it appeared
