This photograph shows Plockton Primary School centrally located in the village with a row of houses along the shore. The school's architect was Alexander Ross. The building was constructed in 1858, by Sir Alexander Matheson, and has the Matheson coat of arms over the main door. Margaret, Mary and Neil Macpherson, wife and children of the photographer Duncan Macpherson, all attended the school, and later Mary taught there. To the extreme left of the photograph is the 'Parliamentary' or 'Telford' church, built in 1827
