Post Office, Kyle of Lochalsh

The post office was built as a result of the rapid growth in population brought about when the railway was extended to Kyle of Lochalsh in 1897. Here, we see the doorway being altered in the early 1930s. Duncan Macpherson, in his book 'Gateway to Skye', comments that the post office, on Main Street, was "part of a somewhat pretentious building which also housed the office of the Bank of Scotland"
