Thatched buildings

Duncan Macpherson, the photographer, may have seen this thatched house and outbuilding on a trip he and his wife made to the Western Isles. The wide walls with the roof resting on the inner wall is typical of the area. The Macphersons toured Lewis and Harris and also sailed south to the Uists and Barra, the scenery and places of interest being recorded by Duncan's ever-present camera, as well as eventually in his second book Lure of the West
