The Lagoon, Suadal Lochs, Dunvegan, Skye

Past Dunvegan Castle on the way to Claigan, the road passes Loch Suardal. Suardal burn runs into the loch at the north end. Part way down, a causeway and road have been built which crosses and divides the loch. This photograph shows a lagoon beside the causeway which was possibly constructed to provide small boat shelter. Today much of the area on both sides of the causeway are very overgrown with reeds and water plants, almost blocking the water flow in the northern part. The water from Loch Suardal flows into the sea water Loch Dunvegan.
