Staffin Rd. Portree. Skye

The good sized crofthouses pictured are situated in what is now Budhmor, on the north side of the village of Portree on Skye. The layout of the crofts can be seen running parallel to Staffin Road in the foreground, with croft houses at Torvaig in the distance behind. The house closer to the camera is called "Dalrigh" and now provides self-catering accommodation. The small burn, Lon a' Mhuillin, running alongside the house provided water to power the grain and carding mill just out of shot on the right. Budhmor (Bumore on some maps) is now a residential area of Portree, and indeed the area pictured has been developed quite extensively for housing.
