The Dolly Graham, Armadale Ferry and Pier, Isle of Skye

The Dolly Graham, a fishing boat pictured here at the end of Armadale pier, may have belonged to Alexander Johnstone (1869 - 1945), of Burnmouth Villa, in Mallaig. He was one of the first fishermen from the East Coast to operate from Mallaig. He originated in Eyemouth, having moved from there along with a few other fishermen around 1900 when fish stocks in their home area were low. They had heard that the railway was to be extended to Mallaig, and realised the impact that would make. A fishing boat called the Dolly Graham operated out of Burnmouth harbour near Eyemouth in the 1940s.
