Neil Macpherson

Neil Macpherson, son of Kyle chemist and photographer Duncan Macpherson, is photographed here with his back to the camera while the driver of the car parked at the side of the road behind him waits patiently. From a young age, Neil appeared, regularly wearing his kilt, in many of his father's photographs as he often accompanied him on walking or cycling excursions in the area. If the driver of the car is Duncan Macpherson, this photograph may have been taken by Neil's sister Mary. Neil was born in 1919 and brought up in Kyle of Lochalsh, but was tragically killed at just 24 years of age in 1944 as the result of an accident while serving in the 16th Army Ordnance Depot in Kent.
