Neil Macpherson

Neil Macpherson, son of Kyle chemist and photographer Duncan Macpherson, is photographed here posing cigarette in hand for his father, probably in the family home, Glenquithel, in Kyle of Lochalsh. From a young age Neil appeared in many of his father's photographs as he often accompanied him on walking or cycling excursions in the area. Neil was born in 1919 and brought up in Kyle, but was tragically killed in 1944 as the result of an accident at just 24 years of age, while serving in the 16th Army Ordnance Depot in Kent.
