This photograph shows the presentation of cups at the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Competition at Bught Park, Inverness, in 1989.

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) was founded in 1930 to oversee competitions in Scotland and to promote and encourage the development of pipe band culture worldwide. As well as administering events throughout Scotland, the RSPBA coordinates the World Pipe Band Championships, held every year in Glasgow. One of the oldest Highland Games on the circuit is the Cowal Highland Gathering attracting hundreds of contestants and many thousands of spectators from all over the world.
