Inverness city centre looking towards Crown Road

On the left of this photograph is the Eastgate Shopping Centre completed in 1983. It replaced the former tenement buildings which were destroyed to make room for it.

On the right, at the foot of the Market Brae steps, is Melville's Shoe Shop, which has now made way for a bank. Slater's directory for 1911 lists 'Melville, William, boot maker' at 2 and 30 Eastgate and at 26 Bridge Street.
