Sir Donald Cameron of Lochiel Memorial, Fort William

This statue stands at the north end of Fort William High Street. It was erected to the memory of Donald Cameron of Locheil, the 24th Chief of Clan Cameron. He succeeded his father as Clan Chief in 1858 and was married to Margaret Montagu-Douglas-Scott. He was an MP and Lord Lieutenant of Inverness-shire for many years before he died on 30th November 1905.

The inscription on the base of the statue, in Gaelic on one side and English on the other, reads, "Donald Cameron of Locheil XXIV Chief of the Clan. Lord Lieutenant, Convenor and for many years Representative in Parliament of the County of Inverness. Born 1855 died 1905. Erected by clansmen and friends in token of their devotion, respect and admiration."
