Inverailort House

Inverailort House (also known as Inverailort Castle) stands at the head of Loch Ailort in Lochaber. It is said to have originally been a farm house before being rebuilt as a shooting lodge and later extended into the building that stands today. It was one of several buildings in the area which was requisitioned by the Special Operations Executive during World War Two and agents were taught intelligence gathering, sabotage and survival skills. Most recently the house has been in use as the Lochailort Post Office and sorting office but is falling into an increasing state of disrepair thanks to damp and lack of money for repairs.
