Clan MacBean memorial park, near Dores

The clan lands of the MacBeans or MacBains were sold off after Culloden. Hughston M MacBain, 21st Chief of the clan, recovered some of the land at Kinchyle and created the MacBean Memorial Park above Loch Ness, near Dores, in the 1960s.
A plaque on the memorial reads "Dedicated to the memory of the Clan MacBean (McBain) of long ago whose ancient chiefs once owned extensive lands in this area."
There was a cast iron wildcat at either side of the memorial but these have since been stolen. A wildcat was one of the symbols of the MacBeans.
