Ballachulish Bridge

The Ballachulish Bridge carries the A82 road across Loch Leven. Designed by WA Fairhurst and Partners of Newcastle, it is a steel-truss cantilever bridge. The bridge was built by Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Co Ltd and opened in 1975. It replaced the vehicle ferry that had served on the route since 1912. The only other alternative had been a 15 mile detour via Kinlochleven.
