Sundial, Dunvegan Castle

A lectern-style ashlar sundial stands in the centre of the walled garden in the grounds of Dunvegan Castle, a hugely popular visitor attraction on the Isle of Skye. The sundial probably dates from the 17th century and features a gnomon (the pin which casts the sun's shadow) on the east, west and south faces. It also has a four pointed star, as opposed to the usual eight.
