Skeabost House, Skye

Skeabost House is situated on the River Snizort at the head of Loch Snizort, a sea loch on the north west coast of the Isle of Skye. Originally built as a sporting lodge in 1850, it was enlarged and finally completed in 1871 by the architect Alexander Ross. Formerly a Macleod tack, Lachlan Macdonald of Ord purchased the Skeabost Estate. He was noted as being a fair and benevolent landlord.

Skeabost has been run as a hotel for many years. The building has been extended although the frontage and entrance tower remain intact.
