Church of Scotland, Uig, Skye

The simple design of the Church of Scotland building at Uig is enhanced by the Y-tracery windows and bellcote at the apex of the entrance gable. The church was built in 1860-61 by Ross and Joass.

Uig, on the west of the Trotternish peninsula in north west Skye, has one of the most sheltered bays on the island. A crofting township and fishing port, it is probably best known today as a major ferry port with regular sailings to the Outer Hebrides.
