Crown Primary School Trip on Board HMS Inverness

This image is of a group of Crown Primary School pupils visiting HMS Inverness in June 1994. The Rosyth based minesweeper was paying an informal visit to the town, docking at Longman Quay.

HMS Inverness was decommissioned in 2005 and after a refit was formally handed over to the Estonian Navy in April 2007, and renamed EML Sakala (M314).

This image was recently highlighted in Am Baile's 'Picture Detective' feature, run in conjunction with the Inverness Courier. Several people have been identified. The head teacher of Crown Primary School, Mr Kennedy, is standing at the back, on the left hand side. In front of him on the inside is Alexander Forbes. The two boys on the right, in the back row, are Alaister Smith and Ross Grainge.

We are grateful to Gail Smith for the information.
