Dunvegan Castle, Isle of Skye

Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye has for centuries been the seat of MacLeod of MacLeod, chief of the MacLeods of Dunvegan, Harris and Glenelg.

Originally built in the 13th century, the site has been remodelled and enhanced over time with much of the castle being rebuilt in a mock medieval style in the 19th century.

This is an artist’s illustration published for an Act of Parliament commissioned by Alexander Hogg to spread information about historical sites and buildings across Britain.
